Robert N. Carson (born January 23, 1989) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the New York Mets. Today, he works as a pitching coach, helping other players improve their skills.

Robert Carson's Baseball Journey
Starting with the New York Mets
Robert Carson was chosen by the New York Mets in the 14th round of the 2007 MLB Draft. This happened right after he finished high school in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He began his professional career playing for minor league teams.
In 2012, Carson started the season with the Binghamton Mets, a Double-A team. He was called up to the Major Leagues for the first time on April 24, 2012. However, he didn't get to play in a game before being sent back to Binghamton.
He was called up again on May 17, 2012. The very next day, May 18, 2012, Robert Carson made his official Major League debut. He pitched one inning without giving up any runs against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Moving Through the Mets System
Carson started the 2013 season with the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s. He was called back up to the Mets on April 21, 2013. Later in June 2013, he was sent back down to Triple-A Las Vegas.
During his time with the New York Mets, Carson played in 31 games over two seasons. His earned run average (ERA) was 6.82.
Playing for Other Teams
After his time with the Mets, Carson joined the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in October 2013. He pitched in 14 games for their Triple-A team, the Salt Lake Bees. The Angels released him in May 2014.
Carson then signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers in May 2014. He played for their Double-A team, the Chattanooga Lookouts, and later for their Triple-A team, the Albuquerque Isotopes. He faced a challenge in 2015, which led to a temporary suspension. He was released by the Dodgers in June 2015.
He continued his career in independent leagues, playing for teams like the Bridgeport Bluefish and the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. He also played for the Acereros de Monclova in the Mexican League. Carson later returned to the Bridgeport Bluefish and played for the York Revolution and Lexington Legends.
Robert Carson's Coaching Career
Helping Players in Québec
On April 4, 2022, Robert Carson started a new chapter in his baseball career. He became the pitching coach for the Québec Capitales in the Frontier League. As a coach, he helped the pitchers on the team improve their skills.
After the 2022 season, Carson was recognized for his excellent work. He was named the Frontier League Coach of the Year. The Capitales' pitching staff had a fantastic year under his guidance. They won the most games, gave up the fewest runs, and had the best earned run average (ERA) in the league.
Coaching the Charleston Dirty Birds
As of December 15, 2023, Robert Carson became the new pitching coach for the Charleston Dirty Birds. This team plays in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. He continues to share his knowledge and experience with young pitchers.
Future Coaching Role
In 2025, Carson was named pitching coach of the Mississippi Mud Monsters of the American Association of Professional Baseball.
