Sir Robert Parning (who was also known as Parving) was an important English lawyer and government official. He held many high positions during his life and died on August 26, 1343.

Sir Robert Parning's Life and Career

Sir Robert Parning was born in a place called Cumberland, in England. His father was also named Robert Parning.

He was chosen five times to represent his home area of Cumberland in the English Parliament. This happened in the years 1325, 1327, 1328, 1331, and 1332. Being a "knight of the shire" meant he was an important local person who spoke for his community.

In 1329, he became a "serjeant-at-law." This was a special type of senior lawyer. From 1333 to 1339, he worked as the King's Serjeant, which meant he was one of the King's main legal advisors.

Sir Robert continued to rise in his career. From 1340 to 1341, he was the Chief Justice of the King's Bench. This made him one of the most powerful judges in England.

He also held important roles in the government's finances. He was the Treasurer from January to October in 1341. This job meant he was in charge of the country's money.

His highest position was Chancellor, which he held from 1341 to 1343. The Lord Chancellor was a very powerful role, often seen as the King's most important minister and head of the legal system. In 1340, he was given the title of "Sir" when he was knighted.

Sir Robert Parning's Family

Sir Robert Parning was married to a woman named Isabel. They did not have any sons who lived to adulthood. When he passed away in London in 1343, his property and wealth were shared between his two sisters.
