Robin Hood Flour is a well-known brand of flour. It is made by Horizon Milling, which is a part of a bigger company called Cargill. You can find Robin Hood products in stores for home baking. They are also sold to restaurants and food factories.
The Story of Robin Hood Flour

The Robin Hood brand started way back in 1900. It was first created by the Moose Jaw Milling Company. A miller named Donald Mclean founded this company.
In 1909, a company from Minnesota, USA, bought the mill. This company was called New Prague Flouring Mill. It was owned by Francis Atherton Bean. The mill made flour under different names, including Keynote, Saskana, and of course, Robin Hood.
How the Company Grew
Over the years, the company changed hands many times. It grew through different purchases and changes. By 1970, it became known as International Multifoods Corporation.
The original mill in Moose Jaw closed in 1966. This happened because there was too much flour being made. The old mill building was taken down. But the large bins that stored grain are still used today. They are owned by Parrish and Heimbecker Ltd.
A newer mill was built in Saskatoon in 1928. This mill is still working today. It continues to make Robin Hood brand flour.
In June 2004, a company called The J.M. Smucker Company bought the Robin Hood brand. They also bought three flour mills in Canada from International Multifoods.
Then, in 2006, Smuckers sold the Canadian mills. They sold them to Horizon Milling G.P. for 78 million US dollars. Horizon Milling is a part of Cargill.
Today, Horizon Milling owns and runs the mills in Saskatoon, Montreal, and Burlington. These mills make Robin Hood products. Horizon Milling sells these products to food businesses in Canada, the U.S., and the Caribbean. The J.M. Smucker Company still sells Robin Hood products to people in stores.
