Narond Adrian "Roc" Alexander, born on September 23, 1981, is a former American football player. He played as a safety, which is a defensive position. Roc started his professional career with the Denver Broncos in 2004. He also played college football at the University of Washington.
Roc Alexander's Early Life and High School Football
Roc Alexander grew up in Colorado Springs. He was a star player at Roy J. Wasson High School. He played both offense and defense for his team.
On offense, Roc was a running back. He ran for over 1,600 yards and scored 18 touchdowns in one season. On defense, he played cornerback. He made 110 tackles and returned two interceptions for touchdowns.
Roc was recognized as a top player in Colorado. He was named to several all-state teams. He was also a state champion in the 100-meter dash in track and field.
College Football Career at Washington
Roc Alexander played college football for the University of Washington. He played in 35 games during his college career. He made 86 tackles and caught four interceptions. He also broke up 18 passes.
Roc was also very good at returning kicks. He returned 34 kicks for 868 yards. This average of 25.5 yards per return was one of the best in Washington history. In 2001, he had a 29.2-yard kickoff return average. This was the best in his conference.
He also scored two special teams touchdowns in 2001. One was a 77-yard return of a blocked field goal. The other was a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Professional Football Career
After college, Roc Alexander signed with the Denver Broncos. He joined them as an undrafted free agent in 2004. This means he was not chosen in the NFL draft but was signed later.
As a rookie, he played in a playoff game against the Indianapolis Colts. He was assigned to cover Reggie Wayne, a famous player. Wayne caught 10 passes in that game. Roc later played for the Houston Texans as well.
