Rocket Wrangler (born in 1968, died in 1992) was a very famous American Quarter Horse. He was a champion racehorse who won the important All American Futurity race. After his racing days, he became a top father to many other fast horses, including the legendary Dash For Cash.
Early Life and Family
Rocket Wrangler was born in 1968. He was a sorrel colored male horse. His father was a famous Thoroughbred horse named Rocket Bar, who is in the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame. His mother was a mare named Go Galla Go. Her father was also a Hall of Fame horse, Go Man Go. So, Rocket Wrangler came from a family of very fast and successful horses!
Racing Career
Rocket Wrangler was a super fast horse on the racetrack. He raced 23 times in total. He won 10 of those races, which is a great achievement! He also finished second four times and third four times.
In his racing career, Rocket Wrangler earned a lot of money, over $252,000. This was a huge amount for a horse at that time. His highest speed rating was 97, which shows how quick he was.
He won two very important races for young horses:
- The All American Futurity
- The Rainbow Futurity
He also came in second place in the All American Congress Futurity.
Becoming a Sire
After he stopped racing, Rocket Wrangler became a breeding horse, also known as a sire. This means he had many foals (baby horses). He passed on his speed and talent to his children.
Rocket Wrangler became the father of 56 horses who won major races. His most famous son was Dash For Cash, who also became a racing legend and is in the Hall of Fame. All together, Rocket Wrangler's children earned more than $9.4 million on the racetrack!
Honors and Legacy
Rocket Wrangler died on November 29, 1992. Because of his amazing racing career and his success as a sire, he was honored in a very special way. In 2010, he was inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame. This means he is remembered as one of the greatest Quarter Horses of all time.
