Rockwood is a small village in Somerset County, Maine, United States. It's located right next to Moosehead Lake, which is the biggest freshwater lake in Maine! Rockwood is a great starting point for exploring the northern parts of Maine, and it's close to a cool mountain called Mount Kineo.
Rockwood is an "unincorporated community." This means it has enough people for its own post office and phone service, but it doesn't have a full town government. It has a clerk and registrar, but not a mayor or town council. The main way people in Rockwood make a living is through tourism and outdoor activities. Rockwood is part of a larger area called Rockwood Strip, which is in the Northeast Somerset Unorganized Territory.
