Rodney Norvell Stuckey (born April 21, 1986) is an American former professional basketball player. He played for the Detroit Pistons for seven seasons. Later, he played three seasons for the Indiana Pacers. Before joining the NBA, he played college basketball for the Eastern Washington Eagles.

Early Life and High School Basketball

Rodney Stuckey was born in Seattle, Washington. He grew up in Kent, a nearby suburb. He went to Kentwood High School in Covington, Washington. In 2004, he led his high school team, the Conquerors, to win a big state championship.

College Basketball Career

Stuckey played college basketball at Eastern Washington University. During his second year, he was one of the best players in the nation. He averaged 24.6 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.7 rebounds per game. He also had 2.4 steals per game. In one game against Portland State, he scored an amazing 36 points. He scored 30 or more points nine times that season. He also had three games where he made 10 or more assists. He even had a career-high 7 steals in a game against Idaho.

In just two seasons, Rodney scored 1,438 points. He also made 98 three-point shots. He grabbed 279 rebounds and passed for 283 assists. He also had 145 steals. His jersey number 3 was retired by Eastern Washington University on January 11, 2009. This is a special honor for great players.

Professional Basketball Career

Playing for the Detroit Pistons (2007–2014)

On June 28, 2007, Rodney Stuckey was chosen by the Detroit Pistons. He was the 15th player picked in the 2007 NBA draft. He started strong in the summer league games. He averaged 16.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3 assists per game. However, he broke his hand in the last pre-season game. He had surgery and missed about two months.

Rodney made his first NBA appearance on December 21, 2007. He played against the Memphis Grizzlies. He scored 11 points in just 6 minutes. On May 13, 2008, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team. This means he was one of the best new players in the league.

During the 2008 NBA Playoffs, Rodney played a key role. Paul Pierce, a famous player from the Boston Celtics, said Stuckey caused problems for them. He said Rodney was the "X factor" in one game. That night, Rodney scored 13 points in 17 minutes. He helped the Pistons win game 2 in Boston.

On December 23, 2008, Rodney scored a career-high 40 points. This helped the Pistons win against the Chicago Bulls. He also scored 38 points in a win against the Sacramento Kings. In 2009, he played in the Rookie Challenge. This is a special game for young players during the NBA All-Star weekend. On December 13, 2009, Rodney was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week. This was the second time he received this award.

Playing for the Indiana Pacers (2014–2017)

On July 21, 2014, Rodney Stuckey signed with the Indiana Pacers. On March 10, 2015, he scored his season-high of 34 points. This happened in a game against the Orlando Magic.

Rodney signed a new contract with the Pacers on July 21, 2015. It was a three-year deal. He missed many games in early 2016. This was because of a bone bruise in his right foot. On March 28, 2017, he was ruled out for several weeks. He had a strain in his left knee. The Pacers then decided to let him go the next day.

Personal Life

In May 2014, Rodney Stuckey got engaged to Cassandra Ferguson. She was a contestant on the 18th season of the TV show The Bachelor. Rodney and Cassandra have a son named Trey.
