Rodolfo Fischer was born in Oberá, a city in the Misiones region of Argentina. He started playing football at a young age. In 1963, he joined the youth team of C.A. San Lorenzo de Almagro, a top club in Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires.

By 1965, Fischer was playing for San Lorenzo's main team. In 1968, his team made history. They won the Campeonato Metropolitano (Metropolitan Championship) without losing a single game. This was the first time any professional football club in Argentina had won a championship undefeated!

Fischer was a fantastic goal scorer. In 1969, he was the top scorer in the National championship. He continued to shine in 1972. That year, he helped San Lorenzo win both the Metropolitan and National championships. One of his most memorable games was in April 1972. He scored three goals in a big 4–0 win against their rivals, River Plate.

Playing for Argentina

From 1967 to 1972, Rodolfo Fischer also played for the Argentine national team. He played in 35 matches for his country and scored 12 goals. His last game for Argentina was in July 1972. It was played in the famous Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This game was part of a tournament called the Taça Independência, or Brazilian Independence Cup. Argentina finished fourth in that tournament. Fischer was one of the top goal scorers in the competition.

Moving to Brazil and Colombia

After the Brazilian Independence Cup, Rodolfo Fischer decided to stay in Rio de Janeiro. He joined the Brazilian club Botafogo FR and played there for four years. Botafogo paid a lot of money to get him. He played alongside Jairzinho, a famous player who won the World Cup in 1970. Mário Zagallo, who coached Brazil to their 1970 World Cup win, also worked at Botafogo during Fischer's time there.

In 1976, Fischer moved to another Brazilian club, EC Vitória, in Salvador da Bahia. There, he played again under his former coach, Tim.

Return to San Lorenzo and Later Career

From 1977 to 1978, Rodolfo Fischer returned to Argentina. He played once more for his beloved San Lorenzo. During his time at the club, he scored a total of 141 goals in 271 league matches. This amazing number makes him the fourth-best goal scorer in San Lorenzo's history!

In 1979, he went to play abroad again. He joined CD Once Caldas in Manizales, Colombia. He scored 11 goals in 40 league games for them. Fischer finished his football career back in Argentina.
