Roger Holeindre (born March 21, 1929 – died January 30, 2020) was a French Army veteran, a politician, and an author. He served in two major conflicts: the First Indochina War and the Algerian War. Later, he became a member of the National Assembly from 1986 to 1988.

Holeindre also served as the vice-president of the National Front (FN). In this role, he represented a group that focused on traditional national values. He was also the president of the Cercle national des combattants, a group for veterans. He was the honorary president of the Party of France.

Early Life and Military Service

Roger Holeindre was born on March 21, 1929, in Corrano, a place in Corse-du-Sud, France. He grew up in the Vosges region and later in Seine-Saint-Denis. In a book he wrote in 1989, he mentioned taking part in actions against the Germans in August 1944.

After working in a steel factory, he volunteered for the First Indochina War in 1948. He later volunteered for the Algerian War. He was seriously wounded in the head during his service. After leaving the army, he lived in Tebessa, a city in eastern Algeria. There, he started a youth center to help educate local Muslim people.

Political Activities

Roger Holeindre joined a group called the Organisation armée secrète (OAS). This group was against Algeria becoming independent from France in 1962. He also started another group called the FAF, which stood for "Front for French Algeria." He was sent to prison because of his involvement with the OAS.

After his release, he worked as a reporter for Paris-Match magazine. At the same time, he advised young political activists. In January 1968, Holeindre founded the "United Front in Support of South Vietnam." This group supported the United States' efforts in the Vietnam War. He also had connections with the World Anticommunist League (WACL).

Holeindre became an important member of the National Front political party. This party was started in 1972 by Jean-Marie Le Pen. He served as a member of the National Assembly for the Seine-Saint-Denis region from 1986 to 1988. After this, he became the vice-president of the National Front. He also led the Cercle national des combattants, a veterans' association linked to the National Front.

He supported Jean-Marie Le Pen during a time when another politician, Bruno Mégret, tried to take control of the National Front. Holeindre believed in a nationalist and caring approach to social issues. He was part of a group within the party that opposed Mégret's ideas. This group believed the National Front should focus more on a "paternalist" approach to immigration. They also criticized theories about race.

In 2010, Holeindre supported Bruno Gollnisch in his campaign to lead the National Front. However, Gollnisch was defeated by Marine Le Pen the next year. Roger Holeindre then joined the Party of France. He became a member of their main political committee in 2013. In 2016, he was made the honorary president of the party.
