Kolo Christopher Laurent Roger, often called Roger Kolo, was born on September 3, 1943. He was a key political figure in Madagascar. He held the important position of Prime Minister of Madagascar for a period, from April 2014 to January 2015.

Early Life and Education
Roger Kolo was born in a place called Belon'i Tsiribihina. This town is located in the Menabe region, on the southwest coast of Madagascar. His father worked for the post office and was also a vice-mayor in their town. Roger Kolo has a younger brother named Roland Kolo. Roland was a member of the upper house of the Parliament of Madagascar.
Studying Medicine
Roger Kolo went to the University of Antananarivo in Madagascar. He studied there from 1970 to 1977. During this time, he earned a degree in medicine. After that, he traveled to France to specialize in surgery at a hospital. He continued his studies in Geneva, Switzerland. There, he became a radiologist. A radiologist is a doctor who uses imaging like X-rays to see inside the body and diagnose illnesses.
Starting Radiology Centers
After his studies, Roger Kolo started his own medical businesses. Between 1997 and 2003, he opened three private centers that specialized in radiology.
Political Journey
In 2013, Roger Kolo returned to Madagascar. He wanted to take part in the country's presidential election. However, his application to become a candidate was not accepted. This was because he did not meet the rule about how long a person must have lived in the country.
Working with the President
Even though he couldn't run for president, Roger Kolo became very involved in politics. He didn't have a background as a politician before this. He worked closely with Hery Rajaonarimampianina. Rajaonarimampianina was running for president with his group, "Hery Vaovao hoan'i Madagasikara." This name means "New Forces for Madagascar."
Becoming Prime Minister
Hery Rajaonarimampianina won the election and became president in January 2014. A few months later, in April, Roger Kolo was chosen as the new Prime Minister. This decision was made after talking to many people. It showed that he had the support of most members in the parliament. On April 18, the list of people who would be in the government was announced. This group, called the cabinet, had 31 members. They came from many different political groups.
