Rokas Jokubaitis (born November 19, 2000) is a talented professional basketball player from Lithuania. He plays as a point guard for Maccabi Tel Aviv, a team in the Israeli Basketball Premier League and the EuroLeague.

Early Life and Youth Basketball

Rokas Jokubaitis was born in Mažeikiai, Lithuania. He started playing basketball at a young age. He first trained at the Vladas Knašius Basketball School. Later, he joined the youth academy of Žalgiris, a famous Lithuanian team.

In 2018, Rokas showed his skills at the Kaunas Tournament. He was named to the all-tournament team. He scored an average of 15 points and made 8.3 assists per game. His great play helped Žalgiris finish in third place.

Professional Basketball Career

Playing for Žalgiris (2017–2021)

Rokas Jokubaitis began his professional journey with Žalgiris. In January 2018, he scored an impressive 31 points for Žalgiris-2. This was in a special game against LaMelo Ball and his team, Prienai.

In May 2018, Rokas made his first appearance for the main Žalgiris team. This was during a game in the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL). During the 2018–19 season, he was recognized as the Best Young Player in the National Basketball League. He averaged 13.2 points, 5.2 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game for Žalgiris-2.

In June 2019, Rokas signed a new three-year contract with Žalgiris. In the 2020–21 season, he played well in the EuroLeague, averaging seven points and 2.5 assists per game. He was also named the Best Young Player in the LKL that season.

Moving to FC Barcelona (2021–2024)

On July 21, 2021, Rokas Jokubaitis joined FC Barcelona. He signed a four-year contract with the Spanish team. Barcelona plays in Spain's top league, the Liga ACB, and the EuroLeague.

During the 2023–24 season, Rokas played in 74 games for Barcelona. He averaged 6.2 points and 2.7 assists per game. He also shot 50% on his two-point shots. In July 2024, Rokas and FC Barcelona decided to part ways.

Joining Maccabi Tel Aviv (2024–Present)

On July 24, 2024, Rokas Jokubaitis signed with Maccabi Tel Aviv. This team is from Israel and also competes in the EuroLeague.

NBA Draft Experience

Rokas Jokubaitis was chosen in the 2021 NBA draft. The Oklahoma City Thunder picked him as the 34th overall player. On the same day, his draft rights were traded to the New York Knicks. This trade also involved another player, Miles McBride.

After playing in the 2021 NBA Summer League, Rokas decided to return to FC Barcelona.

Playing for His Country

Rokas Jokubaitis has proudly represented Lithuania in many international competitions.

  • In 2016, he played for Lithuania at the 2016 FIBA U16 European Championship in Poland. He helped his team win a silver medal.
  • He was the youngest player at the 2017 FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup in Egypt. His team finished sixth.
  • At the 2018 FIBA U18 European Championship in Latvia, his team finished fifth.
  • In 2019, he led Lithuania to fourth place at the 2019 FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup in Greece.

Rokas made his debut for Lithuania's senior national team in February 2020. This was during the EuroBasket qualification games. In 2021, he also played in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Kaunas.

Personal Life

Basketball runs in Rokas Jokubaitis' family. His father, Aivaras Jokubaitis, was also a professional basketball player in Lithuania and Poland. Rokas' mother and sister also played the sport.
