Romoos is a municipality located in the Entlebuch district. It is part of the Lucerne canton in Switzerland.

Geography of Romoos

Romoos covers an area of about 37.3 square kilometers (14.4 square miles). Most of this land is covered by forests. About 61.8% of Romoos is forest land. Another large part, 34.6%, is used for farming. This includes fields for crops and pastures for animals.

A small part of Romoos, about 2.2%, has buildings and roads. The remaining 1.4% includes rivers and other natural areas that are not used for farming or building. In 1997, a survey showed that forests made up 61.76% of the land.

People and Population

Romoos has a population of 656 people (as of 31 December 2020). In 2007, a very small number of people, 0.5%, were from other countries. Over the past ten years, the number of people living in Romoos has gone down by about 11.1%.

Most people in Romoos speak German. About 98.5% of the population spoke German in 2000. Albanian was the second most common language, spoken by 0.7% of people. Portuguese was third, spoken by 0.4%.
