Hasle was first mentioned in official papers way back in 1236. This was in a letter from Pope Gregory IX to a place called the Engelberg monastery. Over time, Hasle and other towns in the Entlebuch valley became connected to the city of Lucerne, starting around 1385. In 1653, during the Swiss Peasant War, a group of farmers gathered near Hasle at a place called Heiligkreuz. They met there to promise to fight together for their rights.
