Flühli is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Entlebuch district. It's part of the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland. This municipality includes two main villages: Flühli and Sörenberg. Both villages have their own churches. Since 2001, Flühli has been part of the UNESCO Entlebuch Biosphere Reserve, which is a special protected area for nature.

History of Flühli

Flühli was first mentioned in old writings during the 1600s. Back then, it was called güetli uf dem Flüöli. This means "small farm on the Flüöli."

A long time ago, in 1380, a battle took place in the area of Sörenberg. It was fought between people from Obwalden and Entlebuch.

People didn't live in this region all year round until the 1600s. Before that, it was likely used for farming or hunting only during certain seasons.

Flühli is the largest municipality in the Lucerne canton. It sits in the Alpine foothills, which are the lower mountains leading up to the big Alps. The Waldemme river flows through its valley.

The municipality has two main villages: Flühli and Sörenberg, which is further up the valley. From there, the land rises to its highest points, the Brienzer Rothorn and Tannhorn mountains. These are part of the Emmental Alps.
