Romulus lives with his owners, Phil and Cara Barker Yellott, in Adrian, Michigan. He's a special type of donkey called an American Mammoth Jackstock. He even has a brother named Remus, who is only 2 inches (about 5 cm) shorter than him!
About Romulus
Romulus is about 21 years old. He stands 17 hands tall, which is measured from his hooves to his shoulders. That's about 68 inches (173 cm)! He also weighs around 1,300 pounds (about 590 kg).
Both Romulus and Remus are American Mammoth Jackstock donkeys. This is the biggest type of donkey in the world! These large donkeys were originally bred to create big, strong mules. Mules are a mix between a donkey and a horse.
Romulus's World Record
Romulus officially became the world's tallest donkey on May 13, 2013. On February 8, 2013, he was carefully measured for the Guinness Book of World Records. After his measurements were sent to London, Guinness World Records confirmed his amazing height!
