Ron Kenoly (born December 6, 1944) is an American Christian singer, songwriter, and worship leader. He is well-known for his uplifting gospel music.

Ron Kenoly studied music and ministry, earning several degrees. He started his music career after serving in the United States Air Force. He was part of a group called The Mellow Fellows. However, he left the group due to family reasons. His big break came in 1992 when his album Lift Him Up became very popular. Another album, Welcome Home, won a Dove Award in 1997 for "Praise and Worship Album." It also topped Billboard's charts for contemporary worship music.

Ron Kenoly's Early Life and Career

Ron Kenoly was born and grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas. His mother prayed that he would praise God through his life. From a young age, he was interested in music. He was inspired by famous performers like Sammy Davis Jr. and Nat King Cole.

After high school, Kenoly moved to Hollywood, California. He joined the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1968. During this time, he sang in a band called the Mellow Fellows. They played popular songs at military bases. After leaving the Air Force, he went back to Los Angeles to continue his music career.

He recorded demo songs for different labels. He even signed with A&M Records and released R&B songs under the name Ron Keith. Later, he and Candy Rae were the first artists signed to George Semper's Inner City label. Their song "Lovely Weekend" sold almost 200,000 copies in 1972.

Ron Kenoly's Journey to Gospel Music

Ron Kenoly later decided to stop recording secular music. He spent four years trying to get a record deal for gospel music. In 1983, he released his first Christian album, You Ought to Listen to This.

He began leading worship for pastors like Jack Hayford. This led him to Pastor Dick Bernal, who founded Jubilee Christian Center in San Jose, California. In 1985, Kenoly became a full-time Christian minister. He worked as the worship leader at Jubilee Christian Center. In 1987, he became the Music Pastor, leading the church's music department.

By 1993, Kenoly was named Jubilee Christian Center's Ambassador of Music. He started helping churches across the United States build their music programs. In 1996, he received a special degree in Ministry of Sacred Music. In 1999, Kenoly moved to Central Florida. He continues to travel, speak, sing, teach, and record music today. He has also written several books.

Ron Kenoly appeared in the movie The Bill Collector in 2010.

He married his first wife, Tavita, while he was in the military. They were married for 42 years and had three sons: Samuel, Ronald, and Tony. Ron Kenoly's cousin is the American actor Don Cheadle. Since November 24, 2014, Ron Kenoly has been married to Diana, who is a United Nations Ambassador.
