Ronald Henry Lee (born November 2, 1952) is an American former basketball player. He played for six seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Ron Lee was known for his amazing energy and determination on the court. He was a star player in college before joining the NBA.

College Basketball Career

Ron Lee played college basketball for the University of Oregon from 1972 to 1976. He was a key player for the team, known for his fearless effort. His team was even called the "Kamikaze Kids" because of their all-out style.

Oregon Ducks Records

Ron Lee is still the all-time leading scorer for the University of Oregon. He scored 2,085 points during his four seasons. He also ranks second in career assists with 572. He is first in field goals made (838) and fifth in free throws made (409).

College Honors

  • He was named first-team All-Pac-8 in all four seasons he played.
  • He also made many All-American lists in his last three seasons.
  • In 1998, Ron Lee was honored by being inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame.

Professional Basketball Career

After college, Ron Lee was a top pick in the 1976 NBA draft. The Phoenix Suns chose him as the tenth player overall. Interestingly, the NFL's San Diego Chargers also picked him in the 1976 NFL draft, even though he didn't play football in high school or college!
