Ronald Pognon (born 16 November 1982) is a famous French sprint athlete. He is known for his speed in short-distance races. Ronald was the first French runner to finish the 100 metres race in under 10 seconds. He also held the European record for the 60 metres indoors.

Early Career Highlights
Ronald started his career as a junior athlete. He competed in the 2000 World Junior Championships. There, he won a silver medal as part of the 4 x 100 metres relay team. He also ran in the 200 metres race but did not reach the final.
By 2002, Ronald had improved his times a lot. He ran the 200 m in 20.65 seconds and the 100 m in 10.24 seconds. At the 2002 European Championships, he made it to the 200 m semifinals. His relay team also finished fourth in the 4 × 100 m race.
Later, Ronald decided to focus more on the 100 metres. He reached the semifinals in this event at the 2003 World Championships. He also made it to the semifinals at the 2004 Olympic Games. His best time for the 100 m became 10.11 seconds in 2004.
Breaking Records and Winning Gold
The year 2005 was a big one for Ronald. He started by setting a new French indoor record for the 60 metres with a time of 6.45 seconds. He then won a silver medal in the same event at the 2005 European Indoor Championships.
At the 2005 World Championships, Ronald achieved something amazing. He won a gold medal in the 4 × 100 m relay with his teammates. This was a huge win for France!
In the same year, he set his personal best times for both the 100 m and 200 m. He ran the 100 m in 9.99 seconds, becoming the first Frenchman to run under 10 seconds. This was a major milestone in his career. Only a few other European runners had ever run faster than him.
In 2006, Ronald continued to compete at a high level. He finished well in several major championships. At the 2006 European Championships, he helped his team win a bronze medal in the 4 × 100 m relay.
Later Career and Olympic Medal
In 2007, Ronald won a bronze medal in the 60 metres at the 2007 European Indoor Championships. He took a break from outdoor competitions that year.
He returned in 2008 and qualified for the Olympic Games in Beijing. He competed in the 100 metres event. He ran well but did not make it to the semifinals.
One of Ronald's biggest achievements came at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He was part of the French 4 × 100 m relay team. They ran incredibly well and finished third, earning a bronze medal for France! This was an Olympic medal, a dream for many athletes.
