Ronnie Brewer (born March 20, 1985) is an American former professional basketball player. He is currently an assistant coach for a college team. Ronnie played college basketball at the University of Arkansas. His father, Ron Brewer, was also a basketball star there. Ronnie is known for his unique way of shooting the ball. This unusual style came from an injury he got on a water slide when he was a kid.

The Utah Jazz picked him as the 14th player in the 2006 NBA draft.

College Basketball Career

Ronnie Brewer played basketball for the University of Arkansas from 2003 to 2006. During his time there, he was a strong player. He averaged 18.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. He also had 2.6 steals per game, showing his great defense.

Professional Basketball Journey

Playing for the Utah Jazz (2006–2010)

The Utah Jazz chose Ronnie Brewer as their 14th pick in the 2006 NBA draft. In his first year, he didn't play much, appearing in only 56 games. However, he worked hard and became a starter for the Jazz in his second season (2007–08).

By November 2007, he was scoring a lot of points in games. He was also one of the best players in the NBA at stealing the ball. He was even chosen to play in the 2008 Rookie-Sophomore Game, which features top young players. On February 28, 2009, Ronnie scored his highest points in a game, getting 26 points against the Sacramento Kings.

Moving to the Memphis Grizzlies (2010)

On February 18, 2010, Ronnie was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. He didn't play as much with the Grizzlies. This was partly because of a leg injury and because the team was not likely to make the playoffs.

Time with the Chicago Bulls (2010–2012)

Ronnie Brewer signed with the Chicago Bulls on July 19, 2010. In his first season with the Bulls, he was a backup shooting guard. He played about 22 minutes per game. He was also one of the best players in the league at defense.

On July 10, 2012, the Bulls decided not to keep Ronnie for the next season.

Joining the New York Knicks (2012–2013)

Ronnie signed with the New York Knicks on July 25, 2012. Before the season started, he had surgery on his knee. This meant he had to miss about six weeks of playing time.

Playing for Oklahoma City Thunder (2013)

On February 21, 2013, the Oklahoma City Thunder got Ronnie Brewer from the New York Knicks. They traded a future draft pick for him.

With the Houston Rockets (2013–2014)

Ronnie signed with the Houston Rockets on August 28, 2013. He played for them until February 21, 2014, when the Rockets decided to let him go.

Returning to the Chicago Bulls (2014)

On April 7, 2014, Ronnie Brewer signed with the Chicago Bulls again. He played for the rest of the 2013–14 season. However, on July 15, 2014, the Bulls released him once more.

Playing for Santa Cruz Warriors (2015–2016)

On October 31, 2015, Ronnie was picked by the Santa Cruz Warriors. This team is part of the NBA Development League, which is now called the G League.

The Basketball Tournament Participation

Ronnie Brewer played for Team Arkansas in a special basketball tournament in 2018. It's called The Basketball Tournament. In two games, he averaged 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks. Team Arkansas made it to the second round before losing to another team.

Coaching Career Highlights

Coaching at Arkansas (2021-Present)

On July 20, 2021, Ronnie Brewer returned to his old college, the University of Arkansas. He was hired as the recruiting coordinator for the men's basketball team. This means he helped find new players for the team.

Before the 2023–24 season began, Ronnie was promoted. He is now an assistant coach for the Arkansas Razorbacks men's basketball team.
