Ronald Charles Brewer, born on September 16, 1955, is a former American professional basketball player. He was a 6-foot-4-inch (1.93 m) guard who played for the University of Arkansas. The Portland Trail Blazers chose him in the first round of the 1978 NBA draft.

Early Basketball Days
Brewer played basketball at Fort Smith Northside High School. He led his team, the Grizzlies, to an amazing 30–0 record in 1974. They also won the Overall Championship that year.
College Basketball Career
After high school, Brewer first went to Westark Community College. This school is now known as the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith.
Then, Brewer joined coach Eddie Sutton at the University of Arkansas. He became one of the famous "Triplets" along with Sidney Moncrief and Marvin Delph. In 1978, Brewer was named an All-American. He scored an average of 18.0 points per game. He helped the Arkansas Razorbacks reach the Final Four in the 1978 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. He was also named to the All-Tournament Team.
NBA Career Highlights
The Portland Trail Blazers picked Ron Brewer as the 7th player in the 1978 NBA draft. He was chosen right after Larry Bird, who is a very famous NBA player. Brewer was also picked before other great players like Reggie Theus and Maurice Cheeks.
In the 1978–79 season, Brewer was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team. On October 14, 1979, he made history for the Trail Blazers. He was the first player from their team to score a three-point shot in a regular season game.
Brewer played for eight seasons in the NBA. He played for six different teams during his career:

Personal Life
Ron Brewer's son, Ronnie Brewer, also played college basketball at the University of Arkansas. Ronnie was chosen by the Utah Jazz in the first round of the 2006 NBA draft.
Ron and Ronnie Brewer made history together. They became the first father-son duo to play for the Chicago Bulls. Ronnie joined the Bulls team in 2010.
Currently, Ron Brewer works as a head coach. He coaches at City University in Memphis, Tennessee.
