Rosales is a lively municipality in the province of Pangasinan, Philippines. It is officially known as the Municipality of Rosales. In 2020, about 66,711 people lived there.
Sometimes, people call the town Carmen. This name comes from a well-known area within Rosales.
Rosales is an important stop for travelers. It connects people going between the provinces of Tarlac and Nueva Ecija to other towns in Pangasinan. You can reach Rosales using the Tarlac–Pangasinan–La Union Expressway (TPLEX) or the MacArthur Highway. The town has many old, important buildings and homes. These are protected as cultural sites by the National Cultural Heritage Act.

Why is it Called Rosales?
Many people think Rosales got its name from the rosal flower. This flower was very common in the area. However, old Spanish records show a different story. Rosales was first a small settlement called a ranchera. It was started by a Filipino pioneer named Nicolas Bañez.
In 1852, it became an official town, or pueblo. The town was named after Don Antonio Rosales Liberal. He was known for being honest, hardworking, and smart. He also held important positions in the government during that time.

Rosales became its own separate municipality in 1852. This happened through a special order from the King of Spain.

Rosales is about 171 kilometers (106 miles) away from Manila, the capital of the Philippines. It is also 55 kilometers (34 miles) from Lingayen, which is the capital of Pangasinan province. Cabanatuan is about 70 kilometers (43 miles) away.

Rosales has a tropical climate. This means it is generally warm all year round. It has both wet and dry seasons. The average high temperature is around 31°C (88°F). The average low temperature is about 22°C (72°F). The town gets a lot of rain, especially from May to October.

Rosales is known for several products and ways people make a living:
- Chopping Boards and Charcoal: These are made in the Acop area.
- Tupig and Tinapa: Tupig is a sweet rice cake, and Tinapa is smoked fish. You can find these in Carmen.
- Patupat: Another type of rice cake, found in Balincanaway.
- Rice/Palay: Rosales is a big producer of rice.

St. Anthony of Padua Parish Church
The St. Anthony of Padua Parish Church is an important Catholic church in Rosales. It belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Urdaneta. The church was officially re-established on February 15, 1915. At first, it was a simple building.
Over the years, the church was improved. Father Antonio Salindong helped build concrete walls and a front with a statue of St. Anthony. In 1946, a strong storm damaged the roof. Conrado Estrella, Sr. helped fix it with donations from the people. Later, during the time of Father Primo Garcia, the church was made bigger. The parish center was also started, and a fence was built around the church grounds.
Our Lady of Rosales Grotto
The Grotto is a special religious site located in the Station District. Many people visit it, including former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Both local people and tourists come here for prayer and reflection.
Ancient Dugout Boat
In November 2010, an old, unfinished dugout boat was found by accident. It was discovered by Mayor Ricardo Revita in the Lagasit River, near the Agno River. This boat is very large, weighing five tons and measuring 8 by 2 by 1.5 meters (about 26 by 6.5 by 5 feet). It was displayed in front of the old town hall, but was later moved during renovations.
Famous People from Rosales
- Carmen Rosales: A famous Filipino actress and a brave fighter during World War II. Two areas in Rosales are named after her.
- Francisco Sionil José: A well-known Filipino writer and National Artist for Literature. He wrote a series of five novels called The Rosales Saga, which tells stories about the town where he grew up.
Sister Towns
Rosales does not have any official "sister city" agreements. However, it has good connections for business and tourism with Guimba, Nueva Ecija and Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija.
