Rosalie, Queensland facts for kids
Rosalie is a cool neighborhood in Paddington, a suburb of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Before 1975, Rosalie used to be its own separate suburb!
Rosalie's Story
The name 'Rosalie' probably came from a big farm called 'Rosalie Plains'. This farm was leased by a person named John Frederick McDougall. He also owned land in the areas of Milton and Rosalie in Brisbane.
A Baptist church first opened in Rosalie on Sunday, April 5, 1884. People described it as a "neat little chapel." It was about 20 by 20 feet (6.1 by 6.1 meters) in size. Later, a brand new Baptist church opened on Saturday, November 7, 1925.
Rosalie experienced floods during the big 1890 Brisbane floods.
The lower parts of Rosalie were also flooded in the 2011 Brisbane Floods.
