About Rosana
Early Life and Music Beginnings
Rosana was born in 1963 on the island of Lanzarote. This island is part of the Canary Islands in Spain. She grew up there as the youngest of eight children.
Rosana got her first guitar when she was just five years old. By the age of eight, she had already written her first song!
She started writing music seriously after moving to Madrid in the early 1980s. In 1996, she won first place at the Benidorm International Song Festival. Her winning song was "Fuego y Miel" (which means "Fire and Honey"). This win helped her get a recording contract with MCA Records. Before becoming a solo artist, she wrote songs for other famous musicians.
Rising to Fame in the 1990s
Rosana released her first album, Lunas Rotas, in 1996. Two of her songs, "Lunas Rotas" and "El Talismán," were used in the 1996 movie Curdled. This helped her music reach people all over the world.
Her second album, Luna Nueva, came out in 1998. It had a more serious and deep sound. However, it still kept the natural and smooth feelings that are special to her music. After three years, during which she wrote songs for other artists, her third album, Rosana, was released in 2001. This album explored the rhythms of her home in the Canary Islands.
Growing Popularity in the 2000s and 2010s
In December 2003, Rosana released Marca Registrada. This was a double album with 10 new songs and 12 of her greatest hits. That same year, she also released a book called Material sensible: Canciones y poemas. This book was a collection of her thoughts, poems, and songs. It included songs she wrote for others, songs she sang herself, and even some songs that had never been released before.
In 2005, she released the album Magia. Later that year, she released Grandes Exitos, another collection of her best songs. She continued to release new music, including A Las Buenas y Las Malas in 2009. Then came ¡Buenos Días, Mundo! in 2011, and 8 Lunas in 2013.
In 2016, Rosana released En la Memoria de la Piel. This album had 11 new songs. She wrote them after her big international tour from 2013 to 2015. This tour included concerts in Europe, the United States, and Latin America. In 2018, a new version of En la Memoria de la Piel was released. It had the original songs plus a duet with Mexican singer Carlos Rivera. It also included acoustic versions of all the songs.
Rosana as a TV Judge
Rosana also appears on Spanish television. She works as an adviser and coach on popular singing competition shows. These include Operación Triunfo, La Voz Kids (The Voice Kids), and La Voz Senior (The Voice Senior).
