About Rosana
Early Life and Music Journey
Rosana was born in 1963 on Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands. She grew up there as the youngest of eight children. She received her first guitar when she was five years old. By the age of eight, she had already written her first song.
In the early 1980s, Rosana moved to Madrid. There, she started writing music for other artists. Some of the musicians she wrote for include Joaquín Sabina and Miguel Ríos. In 1996, she won first place at the Benidorm International Song Festival. Her winning song was "Fuego y Miel" (which means "Fire and Honey"). This win helped her get a recording contract with MCA Records.
Becoming a Star in the 1990s
Rosana released her first album, Lunas Rotas, in 1996. Two of her songs, "Lunas Rotas" and "El Talismán," were featured in the 1996 movie Curdled. This helped her music reach people all over the world.
Her second album, Luna Nueva, came out in 1998. This album had a more mature sound. After this, she spent three years writing songs for other artists. In 2001, she released her third album, Rosana. This album explored the unique music styles from her home in the Canary Islands.
Growing Popularity in the 2000s and 2010s
In December 2003, Rosana released Marca Registrada. This was a double album with 10 new songs and 12 of her greatest hits. That same year, she also released a book called Material sensible: Canciones y poemas. This book was a collection of her thoughts, poems, and songs. It included songs she wrote for others, songs she performed, and even some new songs.
In 2005, she released the album Magia. Later that year, she put out another collection of her best songs called Grandes Exitos. She continued to release new music, including A Las Buenas y Las Malas in 2009. This was followed by ¡Buenos Días, Mundo! in 2011 and 8 Lunas in 2013.
In 2016, Rosana released En la Memoria de la Piel. This album had 11 songs that she wrote after her international tour from 2013 to 2015. Her tour included concerts in Europe, the United States, and Latin America. In 2018, a new version of En la Memoria de la Piel was released. It included the original songs, a duet with Mexican singer Carlos Rivera, and acoustic versions of all the songs.
Being a Judge on TV Shows
Rosana also appears on Spanish television. She works as an adviser and coach on singing competition shows. These shows include Operación Triunfo, La Voz Kids, and La Voz Senior.
