Carlos Augusto Rivera Guerra (born March 15, 1986) is a famous Mexican singer. He became well-known after winning the third season of a TV singing show called La Academia. Carlos has released several music albums and has also starred in many theater shows.

Early Life

Carlos Rivera was born on March 15, 1986, in Huamantla, Tlaxcala, Mexico.

He was very popular in his hometown from a young age. He won singing contests and even hosted a radio show. His big chance came in 2004. After many auditions, he got a spot on the TV singing competition La Academia. This show was produced by TV Azteca.

Carlos faced many challenges and critiques on the show. He performed solos and duets. In the end, he won with over 80% of the votes! After his big win, the people of Huamantla called him "Huamantla's Favorite Son."

Career

In 2005, Carlos signed a contract with Sony Music. He started working on his first album, which was named after himself. That same year, he recorded a song called "Y Si tu Supieras." This song was for a movie called Mar de Sueños. The song was even nominated for an award in Mexico!

While making his album, Carlos also worked in theater. By 2008, when he was only 22 years old, he made history. He became the youngest actor in the world to play the main male role in Beauty and the Beast. This was a huge Broadway-style show by Disney in Mexico.

In 2009, Carlos starred in another theater show, Mamma Mia!. For this role, he was nominated for an award as Best Co-Actor of the Year.

His second album, Mexicano, came out in 2010. Like his first album, it sold very well and became a "gold" record. This means it sold many copies!

The Lion King

In 2011, Carlos Rivera became the first Mexican actor to star in a Disney show outside of Mexico. He played the role of Simba in The Lion King in Madrid, Spain.

For the next two years, over a million people watched Carlos as Simba. He performed in about 700 shows! He even won an award for Best New Actor in 2012.

In 2013, Carlos finished his time with The Lion King in Spain. He then released his third album, El hubiera no existe. This album also became a gold record in Mexico. It was released in many other countries too, like Spain, Argentina, and Portugal.

El Hubiera No Existe

El Hubiera No Existe was special because Carlos worked with other famous artists. These included Mario Dom, Franco De Vita, and Leonel García. The album had popular songs like "Fascinación" and "Solo Tú." He also sang a duet with Franco De Vita.

Carlos went on a world tour called the "El Hubiera No Existe Tour." He had 60 sold-out shows in many cities. These included Madrid, Barcelona, and Buenos Aires.

Later Career

In 2014, Carlos was a judge on Spain's version of The Voice. That same year, he celebrated 10 years as an artist. He released a live album called Con Ustedes... Carlos Rivera En Vivo. This album was recorded during a concert in Mexico City.

Carlos joined The Lion King cast again in Mexico. This show became the highest-earning theater production in Mexico's history.

From 2015 to 2016, Carlos performed in over 300 shows. If you add his shows in Spain, he has acted in over 1,000 theater shows! About 1.4 million people have seen him perform.

He is the only actor in the world to have starred in two different original Disney productions of The Lion King. He also recorded songs for both soundtracks and helped change the original songs into Spanish.

In 2016, Carlos starred in a TV show called El hotel de los secretos. In February of that year, he released his fourth album, Yo Creo. This album quickly became number one in Mexico and Spain.

Carlos has worked with many famous artists. Some of them include Juan Gabriel, Maluma, Thalía, and Laura Pausini.
