Rosario del Pilar Fernández Figueroa, born in 1955, is a well-known politician from Peru. She held important roles, serving as the Prime Minister of Peru and also as the Minister of Justice.

About Rosario Fernández

Rosario Fernández was born in Lima, Peru. Her father, Joffré Fernández Valdivieso, was also a lawyer and politician. He served as a Deputy and Minister of Justice from 1985 to 1990.

Education and Early Career

She studied law at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. She was a top student, graduating first in her class in 1977. Later, she studied more in Washington, D.C.. There, she learned a lot about different types of law, like civil law and international law.

From 1988 to 1991, Rosario Fernández was the vice chairman of the Lima Stock Exchange. She also served as Treasurer for the Lima Bar Association from 1993 to 1994. During these years, she took on various roles in the Peruvian government.

Political Roles and Achievements

In 2007, Fernández was chosen to be the Minister of Justice. She held this position until 2009. The next year, in 2010, she returned to politics. She became Minister of Justice again, replacing Víctor García Toma.

In March 2011, Rosario Fernández reached a very high position. She became the Chief of the Cabinet of Ministers, which means she was the Prime Minister of Peru. Her time as Prime Minister ended in July of the same year.

Personal Life

Rosario Fernández is married to a lawyer named Ernest Coz. They have two daughters together.
