Roscoe is a village located in Winnebago County, Illinois. It sits right next to the Rock River. Roscoe is a suburban area that is part of the larger Rockford city area.
In 2010, about 10,785 people lived in Roscoe. This was a big jump from 6,244 people in 2000. The village has been growing very quickly. Roscoe and its neighbor, Rockton, Illinois, have had some disagreements about their shared borders. Both villages continue to grow and add new areas.

History of Roscoe
People started settling in the Roscoe area in the 1830s. However, Roscoe officially became a village much later, in 1965. The village got its name from Roscoe Township.
On May 22, 2011, a small tornado hit the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department Station Three. The tornado was about 1 mile long and 50 yards wide. Luckily, no one was hurt.

Roscoe is located at coordinates 42.414841 degrees North and -89.010470 degrees West.
The village covers a total area of about 10.435 square miles (27.02 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 10.36 square miles (26.83 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 0.075 square miles (0.19 square kilometers), is water.

Roscoe does not have its own public high school. Students who live in Roscoe and attend public school usually go to Hononegah High School in nearby Rockton, Illinois. Some students might also go to Harlem High School in Machesney Park, IL. Roscoe Middle School sends the most students to Hononegah High School.

Many interesting people have lived in Roscoe:
- John Q. Briggs: He was born in Roscoe and later became a state senator in Minnesota.
- Nicole Manske: A sports reporter and former Miss Illinois Teen USA (1998). She co-hosted The Speed Report and grew up in Roscoe.
- Danica Patrick: A famous race car driver. She is the only woman to win an IndyCar Series race. She is also the only woman to lead laps in both the Indianapolis 500 and Daytona 500. Danica grew up in Roscoe.
