Spearfish Canyon Nature Area is a special natural place in Lawrence County, South Dakota, United States. It's like a protected outdoor classroom. This area is found inside Spearfish Canyon, close to Little Spearfish Creek. This creek later joins the bigger Spearfish Creek. All of this is within the beautiful Black Hills National Forest.
The South Dakota Department of Game, Fish, and Parks takes care of this nature area. They make sure it stays healthy for everyone to enjoy. Many people visit to watch birds, go fishing, hike on trails, or even snowmobile in winter. The area was officially set up in 2008.

Spearfish Canyon Nature Area is a great spot for outdoor fun. It's about 15 miles southwest of the town of Spearfish. You can also find it about 14.5 miles west of Lead. It sits just west of the scenic road called Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway (U.S. 14A).
