Roxann Dawson (born September 11, 1958) is an American actress and director. She is best known for playing B'Elanna Torres on the TV show Star Trek: Voyager from 1995 to 2001. After her acting career, she became a director. She has directed many TV episodes for shows like Star Trek: Enterprise, Heroes, The Closer, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Foundation.

Early Life and Education
Roxann Dawson Caballero was born on September 11, 1958, in Los Angeles, California. She went to the University of California, Berkeley and graduated in 1980.
Her Career Journey
Roxann Dawson has had a busy career in entertainment. She started as an actress, then moved into directing, and has also worked as a producer and writer.
Acting Roles
Dawson's first professional acting job was in a Broadway play called A Chorus Line. She also appeared as a dancer in the 1985 movie based on the play.
In 1989, Dawson worked on the TV show Nightingales. There, she met Eric Dawson, who later became her second husband. After this show, she had guest roles on other TV series.

In 1994, Roxann Dawson got a big role as B'Elanna Torres on Star Trek: Voyager. Her character was a half-human, half-Klingon engineer. She was a main cast member for all seven seasons of the show.
She also appeared in other TV shows like Baywatch, Matlock, Without a Trace, and The Closer.
Directing and Producing
While still acting on Star Trek: Voyager, Dawson tried directing. Her first time directing was for the Voyager episode "Riddles" in 1999. She later directed another Voyager episode and 10 episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise.
After Star Trek, Dawson focused more on directing. She has directed episodes for many popular TV shows, including:

Personal Life
Roxann Dawson was married to actor Casey Biggs. They later divorced. She then married casting director Eric Dawson in May 1994. They met while working on the show Nightingales. They have two daughters, one of whom was adopted from China.
In 1994, Roxann joined the Catholic Church. This was a big change because she grew up in a family that didn't believe in God. Her faith later inspired her to direct the 2019 Christian movie Breakthrough.
