Roy Finch (born October 1, 1991) is a former professional football player. He played as a running back, who carries the ball, and a return specialist, who runs back kicks. Roy played for teams in both the National Football League (NFL) in the United States and the Canadian Football League (CFL) in Canada. He was known for his exciting plays when returning kicks.

College Football Journey
Roy Finch was a talented player in high school. Many top college football teams wanted him to play for them. He chose to play for the Oklahoma Sooners. He picked Oklahoma over other famous teams like Alabama and Stanford.
During his four years at Oklahoma, Roy showed his skills. He ran for over 1,400 yards and scored six touchdowns. He also caught 58 passes, scoring two more touchdowns. One amazing moment was when he ran a kickoff back 100 yards for a touchdown. This play tied an Oklahoma school record!
Playing Professional Football
Starting with the New England Patriots
After college, Roy Finch hoped to be picked by an NFL team. He was not chosen in the 2014 NFL draft. However, the New England Patriots signed him to a contract. This meant he joined the team as an "undrafted free agent." Even though he signed, he was released by the Patriots before the 2014 season began.
Time with the Ottawa Redblacks
After leaving the Patriots, Roy moved to Canada. He signed with the Ottawa Redblacks in the CFL. He played in five games for the Redblacks. During this time, he carried the ball 24 times. He also averaged over 21 yards when returning kicks. He was released by the Redblacks before the 2015 season.
Becoming a Star with the Calgary Stampeders
Roy Finch took a break from football in 2015 to finish his college degree. In 2016, he joined the Calgary Stampeders in the CFL. He quickly became a favorite among fans.
Roy was excellent at returning kicks for the Stampeders. In his first season, he returned 71 punt kicks for almost 1,000 yards. He even scored a touchdown on one of these returns. He also returned 43 kickoff kicks for over 1,000 yards.
In the 2017 season, Roy returned three kicks for touchdowns. This tied a team record for the Stampeders. Because of his great performance, he was named the CFL's top special teams player. Roy Finch decided to take a break from football in 2018.

Roy Finch grew up in Clinton, Maryland. He went to Niceville High School in Florida. For one year, he also attended Edmond North High School in Oklahoma. When he was a kid, he was a big fan of the New England Patriots.
