Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and the Island of Misfit Toys is a fun computer-animated Christmas movie from 2001. It's an adventure musical film directed by Bill Kowalchuk. The movie came out on DVD and VHS on October 30, 2001.

This film continues the story after the original Rudolph TV special. You'll see classic characters like Yukon Cornelius and Hermey the elf. Hermey is now a dentist! Of course, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is also back, and he's super famous at the North Pole.

Three years before this movie, GoodTimes Entertainment made Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Movie. That movie had a different story and characters. However, some key people stayed the same for this film. Kathleen Barr, who voices Rudolph, returned. Michael Aschner was still the main writer, and Bill Kowalchuk directed both movies. Golden Books Family Entertainment also produced both films.

The movie features a great group of voice actors. These include Rick Moranis, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Richard Dreyfuss.

Discover the Story: Rudolph's New Adventure

Rudolph is famous, but he's not happy just doing tricks with his glowing nose. He wants to do something more important. So, he and Hermey the elf travel to the Island of Misfit Toys.

A Dental Visit for King Moonracer

Their mission is to give King Moonracer a special dental treatment. On their way, a big storm hits. Rudolph and Hermey end up in a place called Castaway Cove.

Rudolph's Nose Dilemma

Here, Rudolph thinks about changing his nose to look more normal. He meets a hippopotamus named Queen Camilla who might be able to help.

The Mysterious Toy Taker

Meanwhile, a villain called the Toy Taker is stealing all the toys. He even takes toys from Santa's workshop, which makes Santa very sad! The Toy Taker believes he is saving the toys. He thinks children will eventually grow up and throw their toys away.

Rudolph's Clever Plan

Rudolph comes up with a smart plan to stop the Toy Taker. Rudolph and his friends decide to disguise themselves as toys. The Toy Taker's blimp arrives and scoops them up, along with the Misfit Toys.

Bumble's Big Chase

Only Bumble, the Abominable Snow Monster, is too big to fit in the blimp. He follows the blimp on a floating iceberg. Inside the blimp, Rudolph tries to wake up a new misfit toy. This toy is a kite who is scared of heights.

Caught by the Toy Taker

The Toy Taker hears the chatter and realizes there are intruders. He catches Rudolph, Clarice, Yukon, and Hermey. They head back into the blimp. Yukon chases the Toy Taker, and Hermey pilots the blimp. Rudolph and Clarice try their best to wake up the other toys.

The Final Showdown

Yukon chases the Toy Taker to the top of the blimp. A boomerang that doesn't come back flies by Yukon, and he loses his balance. He falls! Rudolph and Clarice face the Toy Taker. Rudolph's bright nose temporarily blinds the villain.

The Toy Taker's Escape and Capture

The Toy Taker quickly escapes and parachutes down to Yukon's peppermint mine. He hopes to get away from Rudolph and Clarice. Because of holes in the blimp, Hermey loses control. Luckily, Bumble is there to save the blimp from crashing.

Unmasking the Villain

Rudolph and his friends continue chasing the Toy Taker in the mine. Rudolph finally catches him. But the Toy Taker tries to escape again! Yukon uses Hermey's dental floss to lasso him. They pull off the Toy Taker's coat and hat.

Mr. Cuddles' Story

It turns out the Toy Taker is a teddy bear named Mr. Cuddles! He apologizes and explains his story. He used to belong to a boy named Steven, who grew up and threw him away. Mr. Cuddles became the Toy Taker to "save" other toys from the same fate.

A Happy Ending for Everyone

Santa explains that while some children do outgrow toys, Steven is actually looking for Mr. Cuddles. Rudolph and his friends agree to take Mr. Cuddles to Queen Camilla for repairs and to cheer him up. Rudolph also decides to keep his special nose just the way it is.

Santa leaves to deliver presents. Mr. Cuddles is returned to Steven. Santa tells Steven that he didn't throw Mr. Cuddles away on purpose. He was saving him as a family gift. Mr. Cuddles is placed in the bed of Steven's new baby daughter, who wakes up and cuddles him. Steven walks in, smiles, and Santa and Rudolph fly off into the night.
