Rulo is a small village located in Richardson County, Nebraska, in the United States. In 2020, about 144 people lived there. It's a quiet place with a history tied to the Missouri River.

History of Rulo

Rulo was founded in 1857. It got its name from Charlie Rouleau, who owned the land where the village was built.

Building the Rulo Bridge

A big project for Rulo was building a bridge over the Missouri River. The first Rulo Bridge was started in 1933. It was a "toll bridge," meaning people had to pay a small fee to cross it. The government program called the Works Progress Administration (WPA) helped pay for half of the bridge's cost. The bridge was finished in 1939.

In 2013, a new bridge was opened for U.S. Highway 159 to cross the Missouri River. The old 1939 bridge was too narrow for large trucks and farm machines. Because of this, the old bridge was taken down in 2014.
