Blinky was best known for his TV show, Blinky's Fun Club, which was broadcast from Denver, Colorado. He spent 41 years on television playing Blinky. This made him the longest-running TV clown ever. He also holds the record for being the longest-running children's TV host in the United States.

Blinky's Amazing Career
Russell Scott was born in Oklahoma. He loved the circus, just like his father. He started his entertainment career as a clown named Sears-O. He performed in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Becoming Blinky the Clown
Later, he changed his clown name to Blinky. He became very popular! His success caught the eye of a TV station called KKTV.
Blinky's Fun Club first aired in 1958. It started at the KKTV studios. In 1966, the show moved to another station, KWGN, in Denver. It stayed there until it ended in 1998.
Russell Scott performed in more than 10,000 episodes! This incredible number means he had the longest career of any children's TV star in the U.S. He also had the second-longest career in the whole world.
Awards and Recognition
Blinky the Clown received many honors for his work.
- In 2004, he joined The Silver Circle of the Heartland Chapter. This is part of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
- In 2005, he was added to the Broadcast Professionals of Colorado's Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame.
- In 2006, a documentary film was made about him. It was called Blinky and was directed by Brian Malone.
Life After Television
After his TV show ended, Russell Scott opened a store. It was called Blinky's Antiques and Collectibles. The shop was located on South Broadway in Denver, Colorado. After 22 years, the store closed in 2008.
Russell Scott passed away on August 27, 2012. He was 91 years old. He died in Morrison, Colorado, due to problems from pneumonia.
