School History
When the School Started
Rutherglen High School first opened its doors in August 1999. It was created to provide a dedicated learning environment for students with additional support needs.
Moving to a New Campus
For its first few years, the school was located in central Rutherglen. This building used to be part of Stonelaw High School. In October 2008, Rutherglen High School moved to a brand new campus. This new campus is in the Whitlawburn area of Cambuslang.
Sharing a Campus
At its new location, Rutherglen High School shares a campus with Cathkin High School. This means both schools are on the same site, which can offer opportunities for shared facilities and resources. The old Rutherglen site is now used as a nursing home.
