It's also 6 miles (10 km) east of the city of England. For those coming from Little Rock, Ryan is about 36 miles (58 km) southeast if you follow Highway 165.

How Ryan Got Its Name

The name 'Ryan' was officially recognized by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) between 1976 and 1980. The USGS is a science agency that studies the Earth. They added Ryan to their Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) on April 30, 1980. The GNIS is like a big dictionary of names for places in the United States.
