Ryan Daniel Buell (born July 8, 1982) is an American paranormal investigator, author, and producer. He is best known as the main host of the TV show Paranormal State.
Early Life and Education
Ryan Buell was born on July 8, 1982, in Corry, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Sumter, South Carolina.
He attended Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pennsylvania. There, he earned two bachelor's degrees. His studies were in journalism and anthropology.
Career in Television and Film
Buell was the main host of the TV show Paranormal State. This show aired on the A&E channel.
He also worked behind the scenes in film and TV. He was an executive producer for the movie American Ghost Hunter. This film was released in 2010. In 2011, Buell and his partner, Chad Calek, took the film on a tour to 41 cities.
In 2010, Buell was a Co-Executive Producer for Paranormal State. He also co-created and co-produced The Ghost Prophecies. After five seasons, Buell and his team decided to end Paranormal State. They wanted to explore other projects. The final episode aired on May 2, 2011.
Becoming a Counselor
In 2023, Ryan Buell earned a master's degree. He studied Counselor Education at the University of South Carolina. His focus was on clinical mental health.
During his studies, he learned how to lead counseling sessions. He gained experience by working at a private practice. Buell shared that this experience helped him find his purpose. He feels he grew as a person.
He hopes to help young people who are facing challenges. He wants to work with kids who have ADHD or have experienced difficult situations. Buell plans to start working as a licensed professional counselor associate. This is expected to begin in September 2023 in San Antonio, Texas.
