His Life and Family

Ryan Nyquist used to live in Greenville, North Carolina. Later, he moved back to the San Jose, California area. He lived there with his wife and sons for some time. As of 2018, Ryan Nyquist lives in Wilmington, NC.

His Amazing Career

Ryan Nyquist became a professional BMX rider in 1995. He first competed in the X Games in 1996. He is known as one of the best contest riders in BMX history. For over fifteen years, he has often finished at the top in competitions. He is also famous for his unique "barspin" tricks. In 2006, Ryan performed in a special show called Cirque Rocks in New Zealand. It was a charity circus event.

In 2015, Ryan became interested in Slopestyle Mountain Biking. By 2016, he trained very hard to compete in Crankworx. He then earned a spot at Red Bull Joyride, where he finished in the top 10. He was also the first rider to use pegs on a mountain bike during an event. When it's his BMX off-season, Ryan competes in Freeride Slopestyle mountain biking. He quickly became one of the top riders in this sport. In 2017, he won a bronze medal in the Red Bull Joyride event. That same year, he placed 4th overall in the FMB Diamond Series.

Even though Ryan has focused on mountain biking, he planned to return to park riding. He aimed to qualify for the first-ever 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics for BMX Freestyle. In September 2019, it was announced that he would become the first Head Coach for Team USA's Olympic BMX Freestyle team.
