About Ryan Ross
Early Music Days (1998–2004)
Ryan Ross was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. When he was 12, he got a guitar for Christmas. He started playing music with his best friend, Spencer Smith, who had a drum kit. Ryan and Spencer often played songs by the band Blink-182. Ryan sang the songs. Their first band was called Pet Salamander. Ryan wrote his first song when he was 14 years old.
Later, they teamed up with Brent Wilson and Trevor Howell. Before long, they met Brendon Urie. Together, they formed the band Panic! at the Disco.
Time with Panic! at the Disco (2004–2009)
Ryan Ross and Spencer Smith started Panic! at the Disco in 2004. Brent Wilson and Brendon Urie joined them. The band recorded their first album, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, in 2005. It was released on September 27, 2005.
After their first album became very popular, the band recorded their second album. This album was called Pretty. Odd. and came out on March 25, 2008. The music on this album sounded very different from their first one. Pretty. Odd. was the last album Ryan Ross made with Panic! at the Disco. However, he did get credit for writing a song called "Nearly Witches (Ever Since We Met...)" on their third album, Vices & Virtues. This is because the song was started before he left the band.
Forming The Young Veins (2009–2010)
In July 2009, Ryan Ross talked about leaving Panic! at the Disco. He said that he and the other band members were still good friends. Ryan and Jon Walker started writing new songs very quickly. They soon announced their new band, called The Young Veins. They released their first song, "Change," online.
Ryan Ross described their new sound as "more rock and roll." He said the songs were shorter and faster. Their music was inspired by early garage music and bands like The Kinks. Unlike Pretty. Odd., their new music did not use a lot of orchestral instruments.
Their first album, Take a Vacation!, was finished in October 2009. It was released on June 8, 2010. In December 2010, The Young Veins decided to take a break.
Solo Music (2013–Present)
In 2013, Ryan Ross released some demo songs on his SoundCloud page. He wrote, "Thanks for waiting. I'm back now."
In 2018, he worked with Z Berg on a Christmas song called "The Bad List." Ryan Ross also said he would be recording more songs for his own solo music.
Other Music Projects
Ryan Ross has appeared in music videos for other bands. He was in the Gym Class Heroes video for "Clothes Off!!" He also appeared in The Cab's video for "One of THOSE Nights."
In 2011, Ryan Ross was listed as a composer for the song "Nearly Witches (Ever Since We Met...)" on Panic! at the Disco's album Vices & Virtues. This song was started when he was still in the band. He also recorded a song called "Superbowl Hero" with Alex Greenwald and Michael Runion. They formed a new group called RAM (Ryan, Alex, Michael).
