Sáenz Peña is a town located in the Buenos Aires Province of Argentina. It is part of the Tres de Febrero Partido, which is like a county or district. This town is found within the larger Greater Buenos Aires area, right on the edge of the big city of Buenos Aires.
History of Sáenz Peña
The land where Sáenz Peña now stands has a long history. The first known owner was recorded way back in 1615. Over many years, the ownership of this land changed hands several times.
Around 1850, a person named Manuel Lynch bought the territory. After he passed away, the land was sold again. It was then divided into many smaller pieces, or "lots." This division was a big step that helped the area grow into a town.
In the early 1900s, a new railway station was approved for the area. It was named after the country's president at the time, Luis Sáenz Peña, who had recently died. The train station officially opened its doors on November 1, 1910.
After the station opened, the area quickly became more important. In 1912, electricity arrived, bringing power to homes and businesses. By 1920, the first police station was built, helping to keep the community safe. A few years later, in 1927, the first telephone lines were installed, allowing people to communicate more easily.
