Leonard Rwodzi moved from Harare, Zimbabwe, to Swindon, England, when he was nine years old. His father got a job as a head gardener at the Pusey Estate in Oxfordshire.

In Zimbabwe, S1mba first learned about music. He played djembe drums and marimbas. When he moved to England, he found gospel music at church. This helped him start his music journey.
