The SNCF Class BB 7200 is a type of electric locomotive. It uses 1.5 kilovolts of direct current (DC) power. These trains are used by the SNCF railway company in France.
The BB 7200 locomotives are part of a group called the "Nez Cassé" family. This name means "broken nose" in French. It describes their unique front shape.
Other trains are related to the BB 7200. The SNCF Class BB 15000 is a similar train that uses alternating current (AC) power. The Class BB 22200 can use both DC and AC power. You can see how they are related by their numbers: 7200 (DC) + 15000 (AC) = 22200 (both).
Another train like the BB 7200 is the NS Class 1600. This train runs in the Netherlands and also uses DC power.
The BB 7200 trains are numbered from 7201 to 7440. Some of these trains have special metal plates with their numbers. Sadly, four locomotives (7209, 7210, 7308, and 7348) were destroyed in accidents.
Between 2012 and 2013, some BB 7200 locomotives were changed. They became known as BB 7600 trains. These updated trains were used on the Transilien Paris – Montparnasse line.
