S.S. Maceratese 1922 is an Italian football club from the city of Macerata in the Marche region. It's known for its white and red colors. The club you see today is a new version of an older team that stopped playing in 2017. The new club, started in 2018, uses the same logo and team colors, keeping the history alive.

Club History

How the Club Started

The club began in 1922 as U.C. Maceratese. It was formed when four main football teams in Macerata decided to join together. These teams were Helvia Recina, Macerata, Robur Macerata, and Virtus Macerata.

In 2001, the club changed its name to A.C. Maceratese. Unfortunately, in 2009, the club faced financial problems and had to close down.

A New Beginning

After the original club closed, a new team was started in 2009. It was called Fulgor Maceratese S.r.l. and began playing in a league called Eccellenza Marche.

In 2010, the club changed its name again to Società Sportiva Maceratese. This new team worked hard and in the 2011–12 season, they won the Eccellenza Marche league. This win meant they were promoted to a higher league, Serie D.

The club continued to do well and was promoted to Lega Pro in 2015. However, they faced some money issues. A special committee that checks football clubs found that the club had a shortage of funds. At first, they couldn't get a license to play in the professional league, but they won an appeal in July 2016.

Despite this, the club did not join the 2017–18 Serie C season and stopped playing in 2017.

The Phoenix Club

A "phoenix club" is a new club that rises from the ashes of an old one, just like the mythical bird. In 2018, a new club called Associazione Calcio Dilettantistica Helvia Recina Maceratese (or H.R. Maceratese) was formed. Many people saw it as the successor to the original Maceratese club. This new club, like the Stadio Helvia Recina where they play, is named after Helvia Recina, an ancient Roman city.

In 2019, this club changed its name to Associazione Calcio Dilettantistica S.S. Maceratese 1922. In the same year, they also got the rights to use the original club's colors and logo. This means the spirit of Maceratese football lives on!

Team Colors

The team's official colors are white and red.
