Club History
Early Years and Name Changes
The club started in 1922 as U.C. Maceratese. It was formed when four main football teams in Macerata joined together. These teams were Helvia Recina, Macerata, Robur Macerata, and Virtus Macerata.
In the summer of 2001, the club changed its name to A.C. Maceratese. Unfortunately, in 2009, the club faced financial difficulties and stopped playing.
Rebirth and Promotions
After the original club stopped, a new team was formed in the summer of 2009. It was named Fulgor Maceratese S.r.l. and started playing in a league called Eccellenza Marche.
In the summer of 2010, this new club changed its name to Società Sportiva Maceratese. They worked hard and had great success.
- In the 2011–12 season, the club won the Eccellenza Marche league. This win helped them get promoted to Serie D, a higher league.
- The club continued to do well and was promoted to Lega Pro in 2015. This was a professional league in Italy.
However, during the 2015–16 season, the club had some financial issues. They were able to fix these problems and continue playing professionally for a while. The club did not join the 2017–18 Serie C season and stopped playing again.
The New Maceratese Club
After the club stopped playing in 2017, a new team stepped up to carry on the football tradition in Macerata. This new club was first known as Associazione Calcio Dilettantistica Helvia Recina Maceratese, or H.R. Maceratese. It was named after Helvia Recina, one of the original founding teams.
In 2019, this club was renamed Associazione Calcio Dilettantistica S.S. Maceratese 1922. In the same year, they also gained the right to use the well-known colors and logo of the original Maceratese club. This means the spirit of Maceratese football lives on!
Team Colors
The team's colors are white and red. These colors have been used by the club throughout its history.
