About Sa Caleta Cove
Sa Caleta is a bay shaped like a horseshoe. It is surrounded by many old, simple buildings that used to be used by fishermen. Because the bay is so protected, it's a perfect place for sunbathing. Many local people from the island enjoy spending their sunny days here. They love swimming and relaxing with their friends and family in the clear waters of the cove.
Ancient History of Sa Caleta
Long ago, in ancient times, Sa Caleta cove was a very busy natural harbor. It was used by the Phoenician people. The Phoenicians were an ancient civilization known for their trading and sailing skills. They built a settlement on the headland, which is a piece of land sticking out into the sea, at the southern end of the cove.
Even today, the cove is still used by a few local fishing boats. You might also see a pleasure boat or two anchored there, enjoying the calm waters.
