Saada (Arabic: صَعْدَة, romanized: Ṣaʿdah) is a special area in Yemen, a country in the Middle East. It's called a governorate, which is like a large region or state. The main city and capital of this area is also called Saada.
Saada is very important because it's the main place for a group of people called the Zaydis. It's also where the Houthi group started.

Exploring Saada's Geography
Saada is about 240 kilometers (around 150 miles) north of Sanaa, which is the capital city of Yemen.
Mountains and Valleys
If you travel northwest from Saada city, you'll see more and more mountains. Some of these mountains are very tall, reaching up to 2,050 meters (about 6,700 feet) high! Between these mountains and Saada city, the land has many dips and dry riverbeds called wadis. Further east, the land becomes flat and dry.
Rainfall and Population
The amount of rain Saada gets changes a lot depending on where you are. The western mountains get a lot of rain, sometimes as much as 1,000 mm (about 39 inches) in a year. But the dry areas in the east might only get 50 mm (about 2 inches) of rain. Because of this, most people in Saada live in the wetter western parts, where it's easier to grow food.
