Hajjah (Arabic: حجة Ḥaǧǧa) is a special area in Yemen. It is called a governorate. Think of it like a state or a large region within a country. The main city and capital of Hajjah Governorate is also called Hajjah.
Hajjah Governorate is located in the western part of Yemen. It shares borders with several other important areas. To the north, it is next to Jizan Province in Saudi Arabia. To the northeast, you'll find Sa'dah Governorate.
On its eastern side, Hajjah borders 'Amran Governorate. To the south, it is next to Al Mahwit Governorate. If you go southwest, you will reach Al Hudaydah Governorate. The western side of Hajjah Governorate touches the beautiful Red Sea.
In 2011, about 1,782,000 people lived in Hajjah Governorate. The total area of the governorate is around 10,141 square kilometers. This makes it a large and important part of Yemen.
