Sadali is a small town in India. It is located in the Chikballapur district of Karnataka state. Sadali is about 100 kilometers (about 62 miles) away from the big city of Bangalore.
This town is also a "hobli" headquarters. A hobli is like a group of villages that are managed together. Sadali is special because it has many old stories, history, and local legends connected to it. It is also equally far from five other important towns: Sidlaghatta, Chintamani, Bagepalli, Gudibanda, and Chikballapur.

Discovering Sadali's Location
Sadali is a village found north of Sidlaghatta town. It sits on the road that leads to Bagepalli. The area around Sadali is surrounded by small hills.
The town also has two large water tanks. These tanks were built a long time ago by the kings of the Kingdom of Mysore. They helped store water for the people and farms.
Sadali's Ancient Stories
Many people believe that Sadali was founded by Sahadeva. He was the youngest of the Pandava brothers, who are famous characters from ancient Indian stories. Because of this, the town was once called Sahadevapatna or Sahadevapura.
Over time, the name became shorter. It changed from Sahadevapatna to Sahadevapalli, then Sadahalli, and finally to its current name, Sadali.
A Glimpse into Sadali's Past
Sadali has a rich history, changing hands many times over the centuries.
Sadali During the Vijayanagara Empire
In the past, Sadali was part of the powerful Vijayanagara Empire. It was known as the Sadali Kingdom. This kingdom included areas like Chikballapur. Around the year 1371 AD, a person named Naganna Odeyar was in charge of this area. He worked under King Bukka of the Vijayanagara Empire.
Naganna Odeyar and his son, Depanna Odeyar, were important figures in Sadali between 1370 and 1385. We don't know exactly how they were related to the main Vijayanagara royal family.
Sadali's Changing Rulers
Later, the village was controlled by different rulers. Around 1759 AD, a military leader named Khasim Khan from the Moghul Empire took over Sadali. He made it part of the Sira Suba, which was a large province.
Khasim Khan then gave Sadali as a special gift, called a Jagir, to two Muslim chiefs. One of these chiefs was Fateh Mohamad, who was the father of Hyder Ali. To stop the Nawab of Cuddapah from taking it, these chiefs secretly sold Sadali. They sold it to Dodda Baire Gauda of Chikballapur.
However, in 1762 AD, Hyder Ali himself seized Sadali. Hyder Ali was the father of the famous ruler Tippu Sultan. Dodda Baire Gauda was a descendant of Rana Baire Gauda, who ruled Avathi. This family was very important in developing towns like Chikballapur, Doddaballapur, Sidlagatta, and Sadali.
