Saidy Janko was born on October 22, 1995. He is a professional footballer from Switzerland. Saidy plays as a Right-back for the Swiss club BSC Young Boys. He first played for Switzerland's youth teams. Later, he chose to play for the Gambia national team as an adult.
Saidy started his football journey at FC Zürich. He then joined Manchester United in 2013. After playing for Bolton Wanderers on loan, he moved to the Scottish club Celtic in 2015. He also played for Barnsley on loan before joining Saint-Étienne in July 2017.

Saidy Janko's Club Career
Playing for Manchester United
Saidy Janko began his football career at FC Zürich in Switzerland. In 2013, he moved to England to join Manchester United. In his first year there, he was even voted the Reserve Player of the Year.
On August 26, 2014, Saidy played his first game for Manchester United's main team. This was in a League Cup match. Later, in February 2015, he went on loan to Championship club Bolton Wanderers. He made a great start for Bolton, helping them win a game against Fulham. He even scored a goal from far away!
Time at Celtic
On July 1, 2015, Saidy Janko signed a four-year contract with Celtic, a big club in Scotland. He played his first official game for Celtic on August 1, 2015. This was during a league match against Ross County.
In August 2016, Saidy went on loan again, this time to Barnsley, another Championship club. He scored a goal in his very first game for Barnsley, helping them win 4–0 against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Moving to Saint-Étienne
In July 2017, Saidy Janko left Celtic and moved to France. He joined Saint-Étienne, a club in the French Ligue 1. He signed a four-year contract with them.
Playing for Porto and Loans
Saidy then moved to Portugal in June 2018, joining Porto on a five-year contract. He didn't play any games for Porto's main team. Instead, he went on loan to other clubs.
First, he joined Nottingham Forest in England for the 2018–19 season. Then, in July 2019, he returned to his home country, Switzerland. He was loaned to Young Boys for the season. While playing for Young Boys, Saidy helped them win two big titles: the Super League and the Cup. He played 46 official matches for them during this time.
Joining Real Valladolid
On October 1, 2020, Saidy Janko signed a four-year contract with Real Valladolid in Spain. He made his first appearance in La Liga, Spain's top football league, later that month.
In June 2022, Saidy went on loan again. This time, he joined VfL Bochum in Germany for a season.
Back to Young Boys
In June 2023, Saidy Janko made a permanent move back to BSC Young Boys in Switzerland. This was the club where he had played on loan before and won titles.
Saidy Janko's International Career
Saidy Janko was born in Zürich, Switzerland. His father is from Gambia, and his mother is Italian. He played for Switzerland's youth national teams from 2012 to 2015.
However, in 2021, Saidy decided to play for the Gambia national team as an adult. He made his first appearance for Gambia in October 2021. He also played in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, which was Gambia's first time in this big tournament. His team did very well, reaching the quarter-finals!
