The Saijo Sake Festival is a big event held in Hiroshima prefecture, in west Japan. It celebrates sake, which is a special traditional Japanese drink. This exciting festival happens every year. You can find it on the second Saturday and Sunday of October. Many people visit the festival, usually between 100,000 and 200,000 visitors each year!

Saijo's Famous Sake

Saijo is very well-known across Japan for its sake. There are 10 different breweries located here. People have been making sake in Saijo since the year 1650. Visitors to the festival can walk from one brewery to another. They can try many different kinds of sake.

What Happens at the Festival

During the festival, the road from the railway station to Chuo Park becomes very lively. It is filled with many food stalls. The park itself is split into two main areas: the east side and the west side.

East Side Fun

The east side of Chuo Park has even more food stalls. It also features stages where performers entertain the crowd. This part of the festival is free to enter.

Sake Square (West Side)

The west side of the park is called Sake Square. To enter this area, you need an admission ticket. It costs 1,800 yen. Inside Sake Square, visitors can try over 900 different kinds of sake! When you enter, you get a small sake cup. You can refill your cup as many times as you like.
