Salim–Sulaiman is a famous music duo from India. They are brothers, Salim Merchant and Sulaiman Merchant. They mostly create music for Hindi films, also known as Bollywood movies.

About the Duo
Salim and Sulaiman were born in Mumbai, India. Their family comes from Mundra, in the Kutch area of Gujarat. Salim was born on March 3, 1974, and Sulaiman on December 21, 1970.
Their father, Sadruddin Merchant, was a musician who led an orchestra. He inspired them to love music. Salim learned to play the piano at the Trinity College of Music in London. Sulaiman learned to play the tabla, a type of drum, from famous musicians like Taufiq Qureshi and Ustad Zakir Hussain.
After working in music for six years, they became well-known for their background music in the movie Bhoot.
Their Musical Journey
Salim and Sulaiman have made music for many popular movies. Some of these include Chak De! India, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, and Fashion.
They also composed music for pop singers like Viva and Aasmaan. They created music for many TV commercials too. They worked with other great artists such as K.S.Chithra and Ustad Sultan Khan.
At first, they mainly created background music for films. But their songs for the movie Kaal became very popular. This helped them become known for writing songs too. They have worked with big names in Bollywood like Yash Chopra and Ram Gopal Varma.
Salim Merchant has also been a judge on the TV show Indian Idol. He was a judge for seasons 5 and 6 of Indian Idol and for the second season of Indian Idol Junior. He was also a coach on the second season of The Voice India.
The duo has even worked on music for international artists. They created a Bollywood remix for Lady Gaga's songs Born This Way and Judas. They also worked on a song for Enrique and composed two songs for the Hollywood film Sold. During the 2020 lockdown, they released a song with Ricky Kej for Gandhi Jayanti.
FIFA World Cup Anthem
In 2010, Salim–Sulaiman worked with South African singer Loyiso Bala and Kenyan singer Eric Wainaina. They recorded the official song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The song was called "Africa – You're A Star".
