San Antonio Shopping Center is a large outdoor shopping area in Mountain View, California. It is located right on El Camino Real at San Antonio Road. This big center is actually made up of two different parts, each owned by a separate company.
One part is called the San Antonio Shopping Center. It's like a traditional outdoor shopping area with big stores. You can find popular places like Trader Joe's, Walmart, and a 24 Hour Fitness gym here. This section is owned by a company called Federal Realty.
The other part is known as The Village at San Antonio Center. This area is a bit different because it has a mix of things. It includes apartments where people live, lots of restaurants, and a Safeway supermarket. This part is owned by Merlone Geier Partners.

A Look Back: How the Center Started
The San Antonio Shopping Center has been around for a long time! It first opened in the 1950s as an open-air shopping mall.
Early Stores and Changes
When it first opened, some of the main stores were Rhodes and Sears. Later on, another store called Mervyn's joined them. Over the years, the mall grew bigger. The Rhodes store even changed into a J.C. Penney, and a Best catalog showroom also opened.
Gaming History at the Mall
Did you know that in the 1970s and 1980s, a famous video game company called Atari Games used to be located nearby? They would use the Time Zone arcade at the San Antonio Shopping Center to test out all their new arcade games! Imagine being one of the first people to play a new Atari game!
Modern Updates and New Stores
Around 1995, most of the mall was torn down and rebuilt. This made space for a big Walmart store and many other shops.
In 2010, the Sears store closed its doors. This happened three years after they first said they would leave. The area where Sears and other nearby shops used to be was then replaced by the first part of The Village. This new section included a Safeway supermarket, apartments, and more shops and restaurants.
A second part of The Village started being built in 2015. This new section will have a Showplace ICON cinema, which is a movie theater.
