San Esteban ("St. Stephen" in Spanish) is a city and a special type of local area called a commune in central Chile. It is located in the Los Andes Province, which is part of the Valparaíso Region. The commune covers an area of about 1,361.6 square kilometers.

Every few years, a special count of people is done. This is called a census. According to the 2002 census, San Esteban had 14,400 people living there. This included 7,298 men and 7,102 women.
